Godman 'starves' for 70 years, baffles doctors- Hindustan Times

Godman Prahlad Jani (81) claims to have lived without food or water for the past 70 years. Of the 70 years, the past two weeks were spent - without eating or drinking - under CCTV surveillance at the Sterling Hospital, under medical watch. Doctors say the facts do not lead to any easy explanation. The case has interested doctors of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) as it can have lessons in survival strategies for soldiers, who often have to starve for days. Unravelling his 'mystery', Jani said Goddess Amba Mata visited him when he was a child, and put her finger in his mouth to suckle. Since then, he's never had to eat or drink. "With the blessing of the Goddess, I never had to take food or water. I agreed to undergo these (medical) studies because they may help science and our soldiers," Jani said.

Jani, who claims to have lived without food or water since his childhood, was under the close watch of three video cameras 24 hours a day. Researchers conducted various medical tests on him. The research team, consisting of 35 scientists, could not find any evidence that Jani ate or drank anything during the 15 days. Doctors have not found any adverse effects in his body from hunger or dehydration. They think that yoga exercises may have caused Jani's body to undergo a biological transformation. The researchers said tests found that his brain is equivalent to that of a 25-year-old.

Summary: This page is based on personal cross-study of many entity incident reports.
